Morey,

I'll try to keep my notorious and maligned radar on it's lowest setting (oh, it burns! it burns!) Alas, I didn't know Eddie, but the passing of any one of us diminishes and saddens us all. That's true whether you're radar challenged or hyper radar sensitive. (If you cut us, do we not bleed. . . ? Just sayin'.)

As Mary already pointed out, Patti Imbriglio (Class of 72) played Nellie Forbush (I'm as corny as Kansas in August, high as a kite on the fourth of July) in the OTHS 1972 production of South Pacific. Andy McDonough (Class of 73) played opposite her as the Frenchman, Emile de Beque (Some enchanted evening, you may see a stranger. You may see a stranger across a crowded room). The incomparable Maurice Taylor (Class of 72) played Luther Billis (There is nothing like a Dame, nothing in the world, has the soft and gentle frame that is anything like a dame). I could go on, it's a radar thing.

As for who sang the first solo in The Creation, tell Diana Terry I'm at a loss as to what voice (Soprano, Alto, Tenor, Bass) sang the first solo, but since God created light at the end of the first day, I'll go out on a less than intelligently designed limb and say it was a Soprano solo, which probably meant either Beverly Jones (Class of 73) or Kathy Salvano (Class of 74). That is, if it was a Soprano. If it was a Bass solo, it might have been Andy McDonough (Class of see above). For those who aren't familiar with The Creation, it was a beautiful piece, written in the mid 20th century, a refreshing change in the 70's after singing so many pieces top heavy with liturgical music by Mozart, Haydn and Bach (but don't get me wrong, the long hairs were beautiful, too - maybe not Elvis beautiful). Anyway, when we sang The Creation I remember that it was actually quite exciting to sing something written by someone even younger than George Gershwin (Class of 1916).

OK, I've said my piece, if anyone wants me I'll be flying under the radar. You're all invited to visit on Mondays and Wednesdays.

Marvin

PS/ Shout out to Mindy, hope you're feeling better, M.

The most essential gift for a good writer is
a built-in, shock-proof, shit detector.
This is the writer's radar and all
great writers have had it.

I get a different email list from my own class (1975), and that's where I thought I was when I posted my last thing, so some small explanation may be necessary: "Gary D." is Gary Dunkel, Esq., who lives in Florida, and was just posting something about a Springsteen show he went to down there, with his brother Rich and Eric Lieberman (OT-74).

Meanwhile, here's something Diana Terry brought up over at '75: who played Nellie Forbush when we did South Pacific in 1972? And who sang the first solo in "The Creation?"

(Hi, Tim et al. -- I've been lurking for a while, leery of getting on Marvin's radar <g>)
