Tim,
Isn't it good that you were able to reconnect and have your last memories of someone be good ones. I remember Eddie and, yes, he did have a certain image back at OTHS that probably did not quite match the person.
I was on a trip a few weeks ago and caught up with a member of the class of '75 who gave me a copy of an OTHS yearbook from 1973. He was clearing out for a move and I thought someone out there might want a copy. If there is anyone out there who would like to get a genuine, antique copy of the Sandpiper let me know and I'll send this one to you.

When I was a little kid living in Wanamassa (we moved to Wayside in 1964), Eddie lived a few houses away from me and we were young buddies. Eddie was a good kid but trouble, even then, jumped him every time he did something. He'd get in trouble for going to church,; he'd get in trouble for not going to church. He'd get in trouble for talking in class; he'd get in trouble for not talking in class. No matter what he did, he was always getting into hot water, somewhere.
In the mid-90s, after not having seen him for years, Eddie began stopping by my place in Asbury Park. Sometimes he'd bring the Press by, sometime we'd just grab lunch and shoot the breeze about the old Evergreen Avenue days. It was good to get re-acquainted after all those years.
I closed the business in the fall of 1996; the last time I saw Eddie was sometime in August that year. I knew he had been working (on and off) at Freedman's and I knew he was still getting jumped by trouble from time to time. But I never had any trouble with Eddie and he never had any trouble with me. I'm sad that he is gone.

I was just thinking about him the other day -- some rambling chain-of-thought involving Mark Aiello and a suitcase, probably set off by thinking about Gary D. in Florida ... anyway, those were different times.
Master baker, that's pretty cool. And the jazz festival, alright.
